Agent to produce for Roven's Atlas Ent.
Returning to his origins as a producer, CAA agent Steve Alexander is leaving the agency to join Charles Roven’s Atlas Entertainment under the Mosaic Media Group.
At CAA, Alexander repped Heath Ledger, Jeff Bridges, Natalie Portman, Johnny Knoxville, Chow Yun-Fat, Billy Bob Thornton, Eddie Izzard, Peter Gallagher, Rhona Mitra and Chad Michael Murray.
He joins Atlas at a most prolific time for the Mosaic Media Group. Warner Bros. opens “Get Smart” on Friday and the next Batfilm, “The Dark Knight,” on July 18; Sony will release Adam McKay’s Will Ferrell-John C. Reilly starrer “Step Brothers” on July 25.
Production just wrapped on the Tom Tykwer-directed Sony drama “The International,” which stars Clive Owen and Naomi Watts; Universal’s in production on the Ferrell starrer “Land of the Lost” and DreamWorks is in production on the comedy “She’s Out of My League.”
Alexander becomes the latest tenured CAA dealmaker to shift to a production job. Other agents who’ve recently made such a move include Tory Metzger, who’s transitioning to a job as film production chief for Media Rights Capital, and Ken Stovitz, who joined Will Smith and James Lassiter at Overbrook Entertainment.
“Having worked on various projects over the years with Steve, I was reminded of his roots as a producer,” Roven said. “He has great relationships with the town’s top creative talent and executives and understands all facets of the film business.”
Before moving to CAA, Alexander worked for producer Joel Silver and was a producer of films including “Swimming With Sharks.”
