Glen Boreham named chairman

New film funding agency Screen Australia finally has a board, in time for its July 1 start date.

The chairman is IBM Australia and New Zealand managing director Glen Boreham, who also sits on the board of the Australian Chamber Orchestra.

Other appointees are entertainment lawyer Ian Robertson; Network Ten’s head of documentary and children’s TV, Cherrie Bottger; Austar group director of corporate development and legal affairs, Deanne Weir; helmers Rachel Perkins and Robert Connolly; and director of public affairs at Animal Logic, Greg Smith.

Screen Australia replaces the Australian Film Commission, the Film Finance Corp. and Film Australia.

Federal Arts Minister Peter Garrett says Boreham will work with him to recruit a CEO for the new org. Lyn Maddock is acting as interim CEO.

“Screen Australia will help develop a more competitive screen production industry, which contributes more than $1.5 billion to the economy, while providing strong support for projects of national or cultural significance,” Garrett says.
