Writers tapped for Keen Teens

Trio to pen plays for education program

Scribes Liz Flahive (“From Up Here”), Jason Grote (“1001”) and Cheri Magid have been tapped to pen plays for the third season of Keen Teens, the education program from Off Broadway’s Keen Company.

Each playwright will write a 30-minute play with a large cast, to be performed by high school students from the tri-state area. Prior scribes to participate in Keen Teens include Naomi Iizuka, Anton Dudley and Bathsheba Doran.

Keen Company is currently staging a revival of 1951 Jan de Hartog play “The Fourposter,” helmed by Blake Lawrence, also program director of Keen Teens.

New batch of Keen Teen shows, which will be published by Playscripts, Inc., will preem May 29-31 at the Kirk Theater on Theater Row.
