Kathy Bates, Fred Willard, Richard Thomas and Lauren Kennedy are among the performers starring in the world preem of the latest work from composer Jason Robert Brown, “The Trumpet of the Swan: A Novel Symphony,” bowing next month at the Kennedy Center in D.C.
Brown, whose tuner “13” is currently playing on Broadway, penned the music with a book by Marsha Norman (” ‘night, Mother”) based on the E.B. White novel. Gary Griffin (“The Color Purple”) helms the production, which includes a 35-piece orchestra.
Story centers on a trumpeter swan, born without a voice, who is taught to play the trumpet by his human friends.
Family-friendly show plays for five perfs in the Eisenhower Theater Dec. 4-6.
