‘Spamalot’ debuts in New Mexico

Road Grosses

NEW YORK — The road fell about 2.5% in Week 3 (June 9-15) of the new season, bringing the total gross for the 13-show slate to $12,255,332.

This week saw the debut of “Monty Python’s Spamalot” in Albuquerque, N.M., but its gross went down, taking in only $880,505 — lower than its previous week in Oklahoma City, where it made $1,174,508.

Notable changes included “Mamma Mia!,” which pulled in about $275,000 more than last week for a total of $1,056,602, and the Chicago production of “Jersey Boys,” which continued to rise, taking in $1,112,217, up from last week.

Not all of the tuners saw big numbers. “Avenue Q” moved to Seattle, and its numbers fell more than $265,000, bringing its total to $674,437. And “High School Musical” moved to San Jose, Calif., banking a mere $434,710, an improvement from the previous week’s numbers.

“Wicked” continued its strong run in Rochester, N.Y., pulling in $1,323,964 — up $15,000 from last week and the highest gross of the week once again.
