London theatergoers are ready to give a sister a hand. While West End productions traditionally do not publish grosses, reps for the upcoming staging of “Sister Act” have announced that the show wrapped more than £1 million ($1.48 million) during its first week on sale. That translates into more than 25,000 ducats.
Co-produced by Whoopi Goldberg and adapted from the Touchstone film of the same name, “Sister Act” starts performances at the London Palladium May 7 and officially opens June 2. The show includes a new score by Alan Menken with lyrics by Glenn Slater and book by Cheri and Bill Steinkeller. Peter Schneider is directing.
