Road grosses drop percentage point

'Wicked,' 'Mamma Mia!' make sizable jumps

NEW YORK — The road dropped a little more than a percentage point in Week 43 (March 17-23), bringing the total gross to $11,522,912.

Notable increases included two sitdown productions of “Wicked,” each of which rose nearly $200,000, and “Mamma Mia!,” which jumped a whopping $660,000 from its seven-perf week in Fresno, Calif., to its new digs at the spacious Paramount in Seattle.

However, when “Jersey Boys” moved to its seven-perf week in Minneapolis, it made about $800,000 less (earning a still-healthy $913,106 at the Orpheum), so large gains elsewhere on the chart didn’t quite cover the shortfall.

At the top of the chart was the Los Angeles production of “Wicked,” which pulled in a gross of $1,520,937.
