Minnelli, Radcliffe, Baldwin onboard
Liza Minnelli, Daniel Radcliffe, Glenn Close, Alec Baldwin and Mary-Louise Parker are among the thesps lined up to present Tony Awards during the 62nd annual kudos ceremony June 15.
Marisa Tomei, Laura Linney, Brooke Shields, Kristin Chenoweth and John Lithgow also are slated to appear.
Scoring celebs for the presenters’ list is among the methods the producers of the Tonycast can attempt to attract viewers to the often ratings-challenged ceremony. This year the show, hosted by Whoopi Goldberg, also will feature perfs by high-profile long-running tuners “Rent” and “The Lion King.”
Majority of the presenter lineup mainly has Rialto ties already, with Linney (“Les Liaisons Dangereuses”) and Tomei (“Top Girls”) currently on the boards and Minnelli, Lithgow, Close, Chenoweth, Baldwin, Parker and Shields all Broadway vets. Radcliffe is set to star in “Equus” next fall.
