‘Phantom’ sees Canadian dip

NEW YORK — The road sank a little less than 8% (just over $1 million) in week 48. The total gross was $11,833,554.

“The Phantom of the Opera” dropped a little less than $400,000 this week as it played its first week in Sasketchewan, while “Avenue Q” dropped $171,000 in Louisville.

In fact, only three of the 12 shows on the slate were up this week — “Jersey Boys” and “Wicked,” both in Chicago, and “The Color Purple” in Cincinatti. The Orlando prod of “Wicked” broke the house record with $1,345,941, making it the highest-grossing show on the slate.
