The commercial Off Broadway transfer of “What’s That Smell: The Music of Jacob Sterling” has proved short-lived, shuttering Dec. 28.
Comedy, written by and starring David Pittu, was a popular offering at Atlantic Theater Company’s Stage 2 earlier this fall. Transfer, produced by Daryl Roth and the Atlantic, kicked off Nov. 1 at New World Stages.
With music by Randy Redd and lyrics by Pittu, show is co-directed by Pittu and Atlantic a.d. Neil Pepe (“Speed-the-Plow”). Story centers on an interview conducted by a public access TV host (Peter Bartlett) with a fictional legit composer (Pittu).
