David Mamet’s “Speed-the-Plow” has finally chosen a row to hoe: Atlantic artistic director Neil Pepe will direct the drama at the Belasco Theater, with performance starting Oct. 3.
“Entourage” star and sometime legit thesp Jeremy Piven has been cast as movie producer Charlie Fox, and triple Tony nominee Raul Esparza will play studio exec Bobby Gould. The role of Karen, originated by Madonna in the show’s 1988 prod, has yet to be cast.
Primary Stages is offering pay-what-you-can tix for preview perfs starting with A.R. Gurney’s “Buffalo Gal,” which begins previews July 22. Primary Stages joins the ranks of nonprofit theaters with discount ticket programs: Roundabout discounts previews, and Manhattan Theater Club has its “30 Under 30” program, which offers $30 tix to theatergoers under 30.
