The Menier Chocolate Factory’s London production of “La Cage aux Folles” will have a West End run in the winter, beginning perfs at the Playhouse Theater in October.
Douglas Hodge, who played drag performer Albin in the production’s run at the Menier last winter, reprises his role for the West End. Other characters will be played by new thesps, including the part of Albin’s partner, Georges, to be portrayed by Denis Lawson.
Terry Johnson directs the 1983 Jerry Herman-Harvey Fierstein tuner about a gay couple whose son is set to marry the daughter of a right-wing politico.
Currently at the Menier is “They’re Playing Our Song,” to be followed by productions of “The White Devil” and then “A Little Night Music.” Latter is rumored to star Maria Friedman.
“La Cage” runs at the Playhouse Oct. 20-Jan. 10, with a press night set for Oct. 30.
