‘Looped’ gets stint in Florida

Bankhead bio-play begins run on Dec. 31

“Looped,” the Tallulah Bankhead bio-play starring Valerie Harper, gets a stint in Florida this winter in a run billed as pre-Broadway.

Show preemed in July at the Pasadena Playhouse with Harper in the lead role. New staging at West Palm Beach’s Cuillo Center for the Arts co-stars Jarrod Emick (“The Boy From Oz”).

“Looped” takes place during Bankhead’s marathon session re-recording a single line of dialogue for her final pic, “Die! Die! My Darling!” Script is by Matthew Lombardo, whose last play, “Tea at Five,” was a bio of Katharine Hepburn.

Rob Ruggiero (“Make Me a Song: The Music of William Finn”) helms the show, said to be aiming for a Rialto berth in summer 2009. Tony Cacciotti and David Steiner produce in association with Bob Cuillo.

“Looped” begins a limited run at the Cuillo Center Dec. 31 ahead of a Jan. 7 opening.
