Actor to star in West End production

James McAvoy will topline a West End production of “Three Days of Rain,” the 1997 Richard Greenberg play in which Julia Roberts starred on Broadway in 2006.

McAvoy (“Wanted,” “Atonement”) will appear with Nigel Harman (“Guys and Dolls”) in the play helmed by Jamie Lloyd, whose Donmar Warehouse staging of “Piaf” recently transferred to the West End.

In the show, three actors play two characters each in the time-skipping tale of two generations. The female role has not yet been cast.

“Rain” is produced by Caro Newling for Neal Street Prods. and Nick Frankfort and Tobias Round for Creative Management and Prods.

Show begins previews at the Apollo Theater Jan. 30 ahead of a Feb. 10 opening.
