Rialto general managers Richard Frankel and Laura Green have officially teamed to form Frankel Green Theatrical Management.
The pair (“Gypsy,” “Hairspray,” “Young Frankenstein”) has worked together for 14 years as part of the general management arm of Richard Frankel Prods., often on shows produced by RFP or by the Viertel/Baruch/Routh/Frankel Group, of which Frankel is a producing partner.
Frankel Green spins off the management side of RFP into a new management and consulting org that aims to bolster its lineup with projects from a broader range of producers.
“We’re interested in doing more shows we don’t produce,” Frankel said.
“And perhaps doing some more plays,” added Green, whose day-to-day general management duties will be formally expanded to include supervision of the company’s other managers.
On their current slate of offerings from other producers are “Young Frankenstein,” Off Broadway tuner “Rock of Ages” and Elephant Eye Theatrical’s upcoming “Bruce Lee: Journey to the West.”
With V/B/R/F, Frankel Green is on board for the Stephen Sondheim revue “iSondheim: aMusical Revue,” preeming in the spring at the Alliance in Atlanta, as well as developing tuners “Leap of Faith” and “The Hudsucker Proxy.”
Initially, Frankel Green will include a stable of three to five managers as well as a bookkeeping division and other support staff. Included on the roster are senior general manager Joe Watson (“Stomp”) and Leslie Ledbetter (“Rock of Ages”).
Past credits for Frankel and Green include “The Producers,” “The Sound of Music” and “Smokey Joe’s Cafe.”
