Playwrights David Lindsay-Abaire, Noah Haidle and Liz Flahive are the recipients of Manhattan Theater Club’s first Bank of America commissioning program for new American plays from emerging and established writers.
Lindsay-Abaire, a Pulitzer winner for “Rabbit Hole,” which premiered on Broadway at MTC’s Biltmore Theater, also penned the book for DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming stage venture “Shrek The Musical.” Haidle’s “Mr. Marmalade” was produced Off Broadway in 2005 by Roundabout Theater Company and his latest play “Saturn Returns” is slated to bow at Lincoln Center Theater’s Mitzi Newhouse Theater in the fall. Flahive’s first play “From Up Here” premiered last season at MTC’s Off Broadway City Center space.
The three-year commissioning program was established out of a $225,000 grant from Bank of America. Plays will be developed by MTC with an option for full productions.
