Legit consultant Deborah L. Clapp is the new interim exec director of the League of Chicago Theaters.
League is an alliance of 200 theater orgs performing on around 115 area venues. It’s hoped that Clapp’s interim status will become more permanent once she begins working full-time with the League in August, after she finishes with prior commitments.
Chicago legit has been a regular presence in the Gotham spotlight lately, with Tony and Pulitzer winner “August: Osage County” originating at the Steppenwolf last year and the regional Tony Award this year going to Chicago Shakespeare Theater. The well-received Off Broadway musical “Adding Machine” also originated in Chi.
Before working as an independent consultant, Clapp had been director of management at Chicago’s Goodman Theater, as well as general manager and acting managing director at the Long Wharf in New Haven, Conn.
