“Bricktop” has no set timeline, although the announcement of Goldberg’s involvement in the project was timed to an Actors Fund benefit perf of songs by Ron Abel, who co-wrote the tunes for “Bricktop.” Event was held Monday night in L.A.
“Bricktop” is co-produced by Paul Lambert and Jonas Neilsen, who are also involved in the developing tuner version of “First Wives’ Club.” Abel and Chuck Steffan wrote the score.
Goldberg’s prior Rialto producing credits include “Thoroughly Modern Millie” and the 2003 revival of “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.”
