John Goodman and David Strathairn have signed on for the Roundabout Theater Company’s upcoming Broadway revival of “Waiting for Godot.”
Thesps join a cast toplined by Bill Irwin and Nathan Lane as a pair of tramps who waiting for someone named Godot in the 1953 Samuel Beckett play. Goodman plays Pozzo and Strathairn portrays his slave Lucky, two men whom the tramps encounter while they wait.
Legit credits for Goodman include “The Seagull” and “The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui” in Gotham and “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” in L.A. Strathairn, a regular on the New York boards, appeared in “Conversations in Tusculum” earlier this year at Off Broadway’s Public Theater.
Design team for “Godot” includes Santo Loquasto (sets), Jane Greenwood (costumes) and Peter Kaczorowski (lights). Production, helmed by Anthony Page at Studio 54, opens April 30.
