Japanese cinemaplex to offer digitial screenings
TOKYO — Exhib Warner Mycal will offer digital 3-D at its multiplex skedded to open Dec. 15 in Chikushino, Fukuoka Prefecture.
The plex, located in the Aeon Mall Chikushino shopping center, will have nine screens totaling 1,509 seats, of which seven will be installed with digital 3-D projection systems developed by U.S.-based RealD.
The first pic to screen using the new systems will be “Journey to the Center of the Earth 3-D.”
The Chikushino plex will be Warner Mycal’s fourth in Fukuoka Prefecture on the island of Kyushu. It operates 61 sites nationwide.
