Vertigo, Contender sign DVD deal

'WDz' to be first release

LONDON — Vertigo Films has signed a deal with Contender Home Entertainment, which will see Contender handle DVD distribution for Vertigo’s upcoming slate of theatrical releases.

The first pic to be distributed under the deal is serial killer thriller “WDz,” which was released in U.K. cinemas Feb. 22.

Other titles covered under the agreement are Rupert Wyatt’s “The Escapist,” Alex Holdridge’s “In Search of a Midnight Kiss,” Vito Rocco’s “Faintheart,” Simon Ellis’s “Dogging: A Love Story,” Jeff Nichols’ “Shotgun Stories,” Kenny Glenaan’s “Summer,” Tom Shankland’s “The Day” and Nicolas Winding Refn’s “Bronson.”

The deal was negotiated between Rupert Preston, Vertigo Films’ producer and head of distribution, and Jon Bourdillon, director, Contender Home Entertainment.

DVD marketing will be overseen by Matt Brightwell, head of marketing for Contender Home Entertainment.
