Vancouver adds ‘Sugar’ to Forum

Boden, Fleck to speak at fest

HOLLYWOOD — The Vancouver Intl. Film Festival’s 23rd Film and Television Forum has unveiled four days of seminars, workshops and master classes, kicking off Sept. 24 — the day before the fest opens.

Each day the Forum will focus on a particular industry sector: documentaries, film, TV and new filmmakers.

Among highlights, scribe-helming team Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (“Half Nelson”) will talk about their collaborative process and second film, “Sugar.” Like “Half Nelson,” pic unspooled at this year’s Sundance Festival. It will also play at VIFF.

The strength of Canadian primetime content has lead to a surge in cross-border buying. Executives from Flashpoint, Blueprint Entertainment and TNT Originals will discuss how to create series that resonate with viewers internationally.

The Forum takes place in the Rogers Industry Center at the Vancouver Intl. Film Center and Vancity Theatre.
