Universal Pictures has upped David O’Connor to a newly created post as senior VP of brand management and marketing services.
Promotion comes as O’Connor has been working closely with filmmakers, studios execs and outside marketing shops to ensure that U’s advertising efforts for its films are consistent from their theatrical rollouts to their homevid releases.
That involves coordinating activities within U’s marketing departments and other studio divisions including consumer products, home entertainment, Universal Pictures Intl., Universal Parks and Resorts and NBC Universal Television Distribution.
O’Connor is also responsible for developing promo efforts that run on NBC and its related properties, at Universal theme parks and at major retailers including Best Buy, Wal-Mart and Toys “R” Us.
Exec has spent the past 11 years at U. He previously served as VP of marketing services and brand management and continues to report to Adam Fogelson, prexy of marketing and distribution.
