Film earns $1.3 mil in latest round of funding
COLOGNE — German regional film funder FFF Bayern is backing Til Schweiger’s comedy “2 Ritter geben vollgas” (2 Knights at Full Throttle), in which he will star and helm.
The body gave the pic, set in the 13th century, $1.3 million in its latest round of funding, which handed out close to $11 million among 35 projects.
The same amount was awarded to Neele Leana Vollmar’s comedy “Mama, ihm schmeckt’s nicht” by Claussen+Woebke+Putz.
Amounts of more than $750,000 were earmarked for Constantin’s animated pic “The Conference of Animals,” based on the children’s book by Erich Kaestner; to Thomas Kronthaler’s romantic comedy “Postcards to Copacabana”; Jo Baier’s “Henry IV,” based on the novel by Heinrich Mann; and “Vorstadtkrokodile” (Suburban Crocodiles), Rat Pack Film’s remake of a kid gang drama from the 1970s.
TV productions that received a similar amount of coin include “Crashpoint: Berlin,” and Jack London adaptation “The Sea Wolf” by Tele Munchen Group for pubcaster ZDF. The pic has also been bought by web ProSieben, and was earlier given funding by FFF.
