U.K. shingle to be renamed Abbott Prods.

Shingle Tightrope Pictures will be renamed Abbott Prods. after co-founder and scribe Paul Abbott buys out his partner, Hilary Bevan Jones.

Abbott, whose hits include Channel 4 blue-collar skein “Shameless,” said the split was amicable and that the two hope to work together again.

“We’re already getting giddy about a feature film idea that Hilary would produce from her new features-focused position,” said Abbott. “There aren’t enough women at the coalface of U.K. filmmaking.

“Hilary’s happiest when buzzing round a freezing cold location at three in the morning, doing what most producers aren’t capable of — making every cast and crew member feel equally vital and appreciated.”

Abbott will incorporate Abbott Prods. into Abbott Vision, the Manchester-based writers’ think-tank that “aims to put British creativity at the forefront of the international television and film market,” according to Abbott’s spokeswoman.

Tightrope, formed in 2003 “to address the famine in new imaginative work,” has made more than 25 hours of primetime TV including the Emmy award-winning “The Girl in the Cafe” co-produced with HBO.

The decision by Abbott and Bevan Jones to end their partnership follows the latter’s recent focus on films, notably Richard Curtis’s new pic “The Boat That Rocked,” starring Kenneth Branagh and Rhys Ifans, which she is producing for Working Title.
