TIFF can bank on RBC support

Deal's financial terms not yet public

TORONTO — Royal Bank of Canada and the Toronto Intl. Film Festival Group have inked a 10-year agreement, making RBC the official bank as well as a major sponsor of the fest, it was announced Thursday.

Financial terms of the deal are not yet public.

In addition to funding cinema educational programs at the RBC Learning Studio in TIFF’s new headquarters, Bell Lightbox (currently under construction), RBC will support the new Emerging Talent Bursary supporting the participation of Canadian filmmakers in TIFFG industry programs.

“RBC is a strong believer in community building,” said TIFFG director and CEO Piers Handling. “By funding emerging Canadian artists they are expressing their confidence in our filmmakers and strengthening the fabric of our artistic community.”

RBC has been a TIFF financial partner since 2002.
