Salomon dons ‘Mortal Armour’

Hurd producing period romance

Peter Hoffman’s Seven Arts Pictures and Gale Anne Hurd’s Valhalla Motion Pictures have signed d.p.-turned-director Mikael Salomon to helm the feature film “Mortal Armour: The Legend of Galahad.”

Salomon directed the mini-series “The Company” and episodes of the HBO series “Band of Brothers” and “Rome.”

A period romance, “Mortal Armour” tells the classic tale of young Galahad’s quest for the Holy Grail. Written by Joel Gross (“No Escape”), “Mortal Armour” will be produced by Valhalla’s Hurd. Valhalla’s Gary Ventimiglia will co-produce. Financed by Seven Arts, the epic will start production in late summer on the Isle of Man and Hungary.

As director of photography, Salomon was nominated for an Oscar for James Cameron’s “The Abyss,” produced by Hurd.
