European premiere set for Nov. 17
“Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” the sixth installment in the franchise, has been selected as the feature for Blighty’s Royal Film Performance, a prestigious charity event to be held Nov. 17 in London. The screening, to be attended by members of the royal family as yet unnamed, will be the pic’s European preem. For the first time in the history of the Potter films, the public will be able to buy premiere tickets. All coin raised from the event will go to the Cinema & Television Benevolent Fund, which supports industry employees and their families who have fallen on hard times. “Directed, filmed and produced in the U.K. with a hugely talented and largely British cast and crew, it is particularly fitting that this Warner Bros. film will help raise funds to support those from the British film and television community most in need,” said Josh Berger, president and managing director, Warner Bros. U.K. Last year, the Royal Film Performance of Sarah Gavron’s “Brick Lane” was shelved because of scheduling difficulties, although the controversial nature of the film may have also been a consideration.
