Annual fund-raising gala to be held Dec. 11

The Paley Center for Media has tabbed Showtime and Carl Reiner as honorees for the org’s annual fund-raising gala, to be held Dec. 11 at the Hyatt Regency in Century City.

CBS Corp.’s pay cabler has been on a hot streak in the past few years, with skeins such as “Weeds,” “Dexter,” “The L Word,” “Californication” and “The Tudors” luring new subscribers. Showtime also has two high-profile series set to bow next year: Toni Collette starrer “The United States of Tara” and Edie Falco’s “Nurse Jackie.”

Multihyphenate Reiner, 86, has won eight Emmy Awards, five for “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” which he created and in which co-starred. His career has spanned TV and film, beginning as an actor the late 1940s and then expanding into writing on “Caesar’s Hour” and “Your Show of Shows,” working with Sid Caesar, Mel Brooks, Larry Gelbart and Neil Simon.
