Oscilloscope acquires ‘Wendy & Lucy’

Michelle Williams stars in drama

Oscilloscope Pictures has acquired the domestic rights to Kelly Reichardt’s “Wendy and Lucy,” her follow-up to “Old Joy.”

“Wendy and Lucy,” which screened in Un Certain Regard at Cannes, stars Michelle Williams (“Brokeback Mountain”) as a cash-strapped woman whose trip to Alaska with her dog takes a grim turn when her car breaks down in the Pacific Northwest.

Pic is based on Jonathan Raymond’s short story “Train Choir.” It will be released at Gotham’s Film Forum on Dec. 10 and expand to other markets in early 2009.

Oscilloscope is fronted by Beastie Boy Adam Yauch.
