Oscar Isaac joins ‘Balibo’

LONDON — Oscar Isaac (“The Nativity Story”) has boarded the cast of Anthony LaPaglia starrer “Balibo.” Pic, about the true story of an Australian journalist caught up in the Indonesian invasion of East Timor in 1975, started principal photography Monday.

Isaac recently completed work on Ridley Scott’s “Body of Lies” opposite Russell Crowe and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Robert Connolly is directing and also co-wrote the script with David Williamson (“Gallipoli”).

Damon Gameau (“The Tracker”), Gyton Grantley (Underbelly”), Nathan Phillips (“Snakes on a Plane”), Mark Winter (“Playing for Charlie”) and Tom Wright (“The King”) have all joined the cast.

Arenafilm’s John Maynard (“The Sweetie”) will produce with Rebecca Williamson.

Contentfilm Intl., who co-financed the pic with Australia’s FCC and regional body Film Victoria, are handing worldwide sales.
