Company co-finances with Lionsgate
Odd Lot Entertainment has joined Lionsgate in a biographical film about Albert Einstein.Lionsgate has assigned all the rights it bought last year from producers Alan and Gabe Polsky that form the ingredients of the film. That includes the Walter Isaacson-penned biography “Einstein: His Life and Universe,” as well as material that the Polskys optioned from Hebrew U. in Jerusalem (which controls the Einstein estate) and Princeton U. The Polskys will produce with Odd Lot’s Deborah Del Prete and Gigi Pritzker. Odd Lot will hire a screenwriter and finance development, and then it will co-finance the production with Lionsgate. The film will cover Einstein’s formative years from age 20 to 40, ending when he won the Nobel Prize in physics in 1921. Odd Lot Intl. will sell overseas rights at Cannes. Deal extends the relationship between Odd Lot and Lionsgate, which have a three-picture alliance that includes the Frank Miller-directed “The Spirit.” The Polskys are also producers of “The Bad Lieutenant,” the Werner Herzog-directed remake that will star Nicolas Cage and begins shooting in New Orleans on July 7.
