O’Neill Theater honors Simon

Playwright receives Monte Cristo Award

Neil Simon will receive kudos from the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center in Waterford, Conn. when the prolific, Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright receives the Monte Cristo Award.

The theater center, home of the National Playwrights Conference and Music Theater Conference, among other high profile confabs, will present the award to Simon, 80, April 21 at a fundraiser at the Rainbow Room in Gotham.

Previous recipients include Edward Albee, August Wilson, Wendy Wasserstein, Zoe Caldwell, Karl Malden and the first honoree, Jason Robards Jr.
