USC Libraries praise Coen brothers' drama

USC has awarded this year’s Scripter Award to the Coen brothers’ “No Country for Old Men.”

Author Cormac McCarthy joins scribes (and directors) Ethan and Joel Coen in the honor, which recognizes the year’s best cinematic translation from page to screen.

To celebrate the award’s 20th anniversary, the org will also give a Scripter Literary Achievement Award to screenwriter Steven Zaillian. The Oscar-winning scribe is the only winner of three Scripters, for “Awakenings,” “Schindler’s List” and “Gangs of New York.”

Honorees will be on hand at a Feb. 2 reception held at USC, emceed by Jason Alexander.
