New grants for Swedish distributors

Film Institute hands out cash to six distribs

STOCKHOLM — The Swedish Film Institute has decided to grant art film distribs financial support on a yearly basis, in a move intended to support the import of foreign art movies.

The grants are to be used for marketing and film prints, and can be applied for by all Swedish distribs of art movies. Previously, similar grants were given out for one film at a time.

In a first move, Atlantic Film has been given $120,000, Folkets Bio $212,000 and NonStop Entertainment $172.000.

The Film Institute has also given money to four distribs of docus and shorts. FilmCentrum gets $21,000, Folkets Bio $146,000, Foreningarna Nordens Forbund $6,900 and Konstbio Firma Sofia Curman $5,100.
