Exec was formerly at Sony

LONDON — Richard Napper has been appointed m.d. of indie cinema circuit Curzon Cinemas, part of distrib-exhib outfit Curzon Artificial Eye.

Napper, formerly m.d., U.K., Sony Pictures International, will oversee all operations of the Curzon Cinemas exhibition business. He starts immediately, reporting to Philip Knatchbull, CEO, Curzon Artificial Eye.

“I am excited by this new challenge to take part in pushing the boundaries of cinema exhibition as it continues its digital evolution. Independent cinema has always been a favorite enthusiasm of mine and I look forward to working with the Curzon team to take this unique cinema circuit into its next stage of development,” said Napper.

The nine-screen chain is comprised of five upmarket London cinemas: the Curzon Mayfair, Curzon Soho, Renoir Cinema, Chelsea Cinema and Richmond Filmhouse.

Napper left Sony in May 2006. He acted as interim m.d. for Momentum Pictures in 2007.
