BERLIN — Momentum Pictures has picked up all rights to Tomas Alfredson’s hit Swedish vampire romance “Let the Right One In” for the U.K. and Ireland.
Pic, which will be released Stateside by Magnolia/Magnet, has become a massive sales success for world sales company Bavaria Film Intl.
In Germany, MFA has scheduled “Let the Right One In” for a Christmas release.
Based on Swedish author John Ajvide Lindqvist’s best-selling novel, the movie tells the story of a lonely 12-year-old boy and his friendship with a young girl who appears to be a vampire.
“The international sales success of ‘Let the Right One In’ has exceeded our own expectations,” says Stefanie Zeitler, head of sales at Bavaria Film Intl. “It has now been sold into all major territories except Japan, and we are confident to complete a deal there in the very near future as well.”
The film has sold rapidly in key markets around the globe, including France (Chrysalis), Italy (Bolero Film), Spain (Karma Films), the former Soviet C.I.S. territories and Baltic States (Maywin Media), Poland (Vivarto), Australia/New Zealand (Rialto), Austria (Filmladen), South Korea (The Daisy Entertainment), Singapore (Lighthouse Pictures), Argentina (Craldin) and Brazil (Mostra Internacional de Cinema).
