  • Julie Christie will be feted on Friday with a tribute and special screening of “Away From Her.”

  • Guest director Norman Jewison will be honored with a retrospective of his work.

  • Other honorees include Cate Blanchett, Javier Bardem, Ryan Gosling, Tommy Lee Jones and Angelina Jolie. Casey Affleck, Ellen Page, Marion Cotillard, James McAvoy and Amy Ryan are slated to receive the fest’s inaugural Virtuosos honor.



  • 11 a.m. “It Starts With the Script,” moderated by deputy editor Anne Thompson

  • 2 p.m. “Movers & Shakers,” moderated by Los Angeles Times columnist Patrick Goldstein

Jan. 31

  • 6-8 p.m. “Location Location Location: The Greening of Hollywood”

Feb. 2

  • 11 a.m. “Directors on Directing,” moderated by Variety Editor-in-Chief Peter Bart

  • 2 p.m. “Creative Forces: Women in the Biz,” moderated by Madelyn Hammond, Variety chief marketing officer
