Weta taking charge of visual effects
SEOUL — Korean actress Han Chae-young (“Love Now”) will play the lead in Kiwi helmer Scott Reynolds’ horror pic “Soul Mates.”
Scripted by Nick Ward, the story is about the death of a Korean woman who lives in New Zealand.
Korea’s Film Alchemy and New Zealand’s Touchdown Eyeworks have been co-developing the $5.4 million pic, the first under the co-production treaty co-signed by the two governments this week.
New Zealand’s Weta Workshop is taking charge of the visual effects, under Richard Talyor.
Pic will begin lensing in January, aiming at releasing for release next summer. The local distributor and international sales agency have not been announced.
The treaty and film will be introduced at Pusan’s New Zealand Night on Saturday, attended by Han Chae-young, Reynolds and Jane Coombs, New Zealand’s ambassador in South Korea.
