Film professor new chairman of org

SEOUL — Seoul Art Institute film department professor Kang Han-sup is the new chairman of the Korean Film Council (Kofic).

Kang, whose three-year term began Wednesday, is well known as a film critic who has focused on industry innovation and policy development. He has taught at Seoul Institute of the Arts since 1994.

“I feel a huge responsibility to take charge of the struggling film industry. I will do my best to reconstruct Korean film industry through profitability improvements and investment attractions, by restoring the declining DVD market as well as opening up a new media market,” Kang said.
