New COO/CFO replaces Peter Herzig
Jonathan Fischer has joined Groundswell Prods. as the company’s chief operating officer/chief financial officer. He will oversee the 2-year-old indie’s day-to-day business and finance operations and strategic initiatives.
Groundswell CEO Michael London also has promoted Janice Williams to head of physical production.
Fischer replaces Groundswell’s New York-based CFO Peter Herzig, who structured Groundswell’s $205 million capital raise in 2007. Herzig will focus on his own consulting firm, raising capital for film financing ventures.
Fischer comes to Groundswell from Intrepid Pictures, where he was CFO; he also was VP, business development and strategy, at Universal and senior planning analyst at Walt Disney. He co-founded Coloma Partners, a wireless spectrum venture.
“As Groundswell has grown over the last year, it has become more and more important for me to find a true business partner who works side by side with our creative team in Los Angeles,” said London, citing Fischer’s extensive financial experience.
After a year as Groundswell’s VP of physical production, Williams will oversee the physical production arm.
Groundswell is in production in New York and Connecticut on “All Good Things,” directed by Andrew Jarecki, for release by the Weinstein Co. Currently in release are Sundance entry “Smart People,” directed by Noam Murro, and Tom McCarthy’s “The Visitor.” Upcoming is Paramount Vantage’s “The Marc Pease Experience.”
