Legendary Pictures has tapped Jayson Rothwell to pen thriller “The Mountain.”
Roy Lee and Doug Davison’s Vertigo Entertainment is producing with Brian Witten via his Witten Pictures banner.
Story centers on a sheriff, recently transplanted from the inner city, who assembles a search party to investigate the disappearance of hikers in the Cascade Mountains and discovers the menacing side of the remote wilderness.
Rothwell recently completed “Fort Knox” and “Invaders” for Warner Bros. and is currently writing “Glass Books of the Dreameaters” for Warner Bros. and Johnny Depp’s Infinitum Nihil banner. “Malice in Wonderland,” which Rothwell penned, is currently filming in the U.K.
Legendary is developing “Paradise Lost,” “Warcraft” and “Kung Fu” and is partnered on “Watchmen,” “Ninja Assassin” and “Clash of the Titans” at Warner Bros. and “Gears of War” at New Line.
