IDA hands out nods for docs

'This American Life' wins series prize

Ira Glass’ “This American Life” will nab the continuing series award from the Intl. Documentary Assn. for the second consecutive year, while the limited series kudo will go to “Sin City Law.”

Org announced some winners ahead of Friday’s kudofest at the Directors Guild Theater in Los Angeles.

The top feature prize, however, will be announced at the event, along with the shorts and aud kudos. “Young @ Heart” competes against “Kassim the Dream,” “Stranded: I’ve Come From a Plane That Crashed in the Mountains,” “Man on Wire” and “Waltz With Bashir” for the feature kudo.

Other winners include “Burning the Future: Coal in America,” which took the IDA/Pare Lorentz award; “War Child,” the IDA/ABCNews Videosource kudo; and “As We Forgive,” the student filmmaker nod.

Voting continues at for the first aud award.

Winning films will screen at DocuFest from 10 a.m. to midnight Saturday at the Eastman Kodak Screening Room.
