Kiddie show producer pacts for 'Picme'

CANNES — Kidvid producer and rights owner Hit Entertainment has inked with PBS Kids Sprout on pioneering tykes show “Picme,” which will be offered via broadcast TV, on demand services and online.

Produced by Ireland’s Jam Media in 2-D flash animation, the preschooler-targeted “Picme” uses proprietary “Head-hunter” software to allow parents to submit photos of their children that are then superimposed on the heads of animals, allowing their offspring to take a co-starring role in the show.

Hit also announced Monday at the Cannes Mip TV mart that it would be producing a CG animation version of the popular TV show “Angelina Ballerina,” teaming with pubcaster Thirteen/WNET New York.

“Angelina Ballerina: The Next Steps” is skedded for a fall 2009 preem as a weekly series on PBS Kids in the U.S. and Nick Jr. in the U.K.

“Next Steps” takes dance-loving Angelina to a new neighborhood.
