Here Films saves ‘Marriage’

Company acquires rights to gay documentary

Here Films has acquired the worldwide distribution rights to gay marriage doc “Saving Marriage” and will be pushing up the release date in an effort to defeat Proposition 8 in California.

If approved, Proposition 8 would eliminate the right of gay couples to marry in the state of California.

Together with Regent Releasing, Here will release the film in select cities starting Oct. 10. Documentary chronicles events in the two years after the Massachusetts Supreme Court ruled gay marriage legal in November 2003.

The pic, directed by John Henning and Mike Roth, will be released in Los Angeles, Boston, New York City and Denver.

Regent has recently formed its own partnership with Equality California in order to help raise funds and awareness for the No on Prop 8 campaign.
