Film Farm cultivates de Palma pics

Producers Urdll and Weiss also nab Egoyan movie

TORONTO — The Film Farm’s Simone Urdl and Jennifer Weiss will produce Atom Egoyan’s next pic and Brian de Palma’s next two.

The duo revealed their plans at the Cannes Festival, where Egoyan’s “Adoration” — the Farm’s co-production with Egoyan’s Ego Film Arts — vies for the Palme d’Or.

Toronto-based Farm, founded in 1998, made its mark producing Sarah Polley’s “Away From Her” and de Palma’s “Redacted,” which won a Silver Lion for director at Venice.

De Palma will continue “Redacted’s” Iraq theme in “Print the Legend,” followed by an untitled political thriller, while Egoyan’s next pic, also untitled, is from an original screenplay.
