‘Elephant’ doc wins Humane grant

$25,000 prize awarded at SilverDocs

“The Elephant in the Living Room” won a $25,000 documentary grant from the Humane Society of the United States at the 2008 SilverDocs: AFI/Discovery Channel Documentary Film Festival on Wednesday.

Produced and directed by Michael Webber, the film takes a close look at issues dealing with animal welfare and the dangers facing exotic pet ownership.

The grant is part of the HSUS’ Animal Content in Entertainment (ACE) program. The program seeks to encourage issues dealing with animals in media.
