Seven first films in Karlovy Vary lineup

Debut features dominate Variety’s Critics Choice selection of 10 European films for the Karlovy Vary Film Festival.The 10, which will play during July’s fest in the Czech Republic are “Frei nach Plan” (According to Plan), Franziska Meletzky, Germany; “Nuits d’Arabie” (Arabian Nights), Paul Kieffer, Luxembourg, first solo feature; “Ciao bella,” Mani Masserat-Aghat, Sweden, first feature; “Lascia perdere, Johnny!” (Don’t Waste Your Time, Johnny!), Fabrizio Bentivoglio, Italy, first feature; “Dunya & Desie,” Dana Nechustan, Netherlands; “La habitacion de Fermat” (Fermat’s Room), Luis Piedrahita, Rodrigo Sopena, Spain, first feature; “Fighter,” Natasha Arthy, Denmark; “Polcas rozpadu” (Half-Life), Vlado Fischer, Slovakia, first feature; “I epistrofi” (The Homecoming), Vasilis Douvlis, Greece, first feature; and “Le Tueur” (The Killer), Cedric Anger, France, first feature.

The full list, which will play during July’s Karlovy Vary festival in the Czech Republic is:
