‘Complex’ to premiere at Bavaria event

German Oscar entry to screen Sept. 26

Germany’s foreign-language Oscar entry “The Baader Meinhof Complex” will receive its Stateside preem Sept. 26 at the Aero Theater in Santa Monica as part of the German Currents: Focus Film Bavaria event.

Caroline Link’s “A Year Ago in Winter” will make its U.S. preem on Sept. 24.

Other pics set to screen include “Lissi and the Wild Emperor” and “Rabbit Without Ears” on Sept. 25; ” Winter Journey” and “Shopping” on Sept 26; “Free to Leave,” “Cherry Blossoms” and “Best Place to Be” on Sept. 27; and “Wild Chicks in Love,” “The Wave” and “And Along Come Tourists” on Sept. 28.

In addition to the film series, the German Currents event will include an exhibition honoring the Hof Intl. Film Festival and a multimedia presentation of film technology by ARRI, makers of the Arriflex camera. Both events will take place at the Goethe-Institut in L.A.
