Paramount Pictures, Lionsgate and HBO will be among U.S. buyers at the third edition of the Madrid de Cine-Spanish Film Screenings, which takes place June 8-10.
Organized by Spain’s Fapae producers org, Madrid de Cine’s minimart is expected to draw 150 buyers from North and Latin America, Europe and Asia.
Other companies attending include the Weinstein Co., Pathe Distribution, Miramax, Focus Features and Paramount Vantage; Germany’s Senator Films, Universum and Kinowelt; and France’s EuropaCorp, Oceans Films Distribution and Indie Circle.
Spain’s most economically vibrant region, Madrid will soon build its own film city.
“Madrid is positioning as one of the main hubs for the Southern European film and TV industries. The Screenings event demonstrates that trend,” said Madrid-based sales agent Kevin Williams.
Screenings for buyers will take place at Madrid’s central Cines Princesa, while the nearby Melia Hotel will host the business meetings.
Madrid de Cine is backed by Spain’s Icex Foreign Trade Institute, the ICAA Spanish Film Institute, Spain’s producers rights protection society Egeda, Madrid’s regional government and town hall and the Madrid Film Commission.
